Gingerbread appoints new Chief Executive

Victoria Benson Gingerbread CEOWe are delighted to announce that Victoria Benson has been appointed as Gingerbread’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Victoria joins us from Macmillan Cancer Support, one of the UK’s largest charitable organisations, where she was Director of Governance for 12 years. Prior to this role, Victoria practised as a solicitor. She also has a PG Dip in Voluntary Sector Management from Cass Business School.

Victoria joined Gingerbread as our interim CEO in February 2019, following the departure of Rosie Ferguson. Having served on our Board of Trustees for four years before that and as a single mum to six children and the daughter of a single parent herself, Victoria is passionate about supporting single parent families and driving forward our ambitious strategy.

Commenting on her appointment, Jonathan Welfare, Chair of Gingerbread’s Board of Trustees said: “I am delighted that Victoria has now been appointed as the CEO of Gingerbread. She has already made an invaluable contribution in taking the charity forward, and I have every confidence in her ability, together with that of our dedicated staff, to continue to grow our much-valued services to single parents.”

Talking about her own appointment, Victoria Benson said: “I am very pleased to have been appointed CEO of Gingerbread. As a single parent myself, I feel passionately that single parents should be supported and championed so that they can thrive and be valued. Gingerbread is a such a fantastic organisation and does really brilliant work with and for single parents and I’m so excited to be part of it.”
