Programmes in Wales

Gingerbread regularly partners with various companies to provide you with opportunities to gain work experience, build confidence, and work towards your future goals. Whether that might be volunteering, getting further education or preparing for work, we are here to help you.

Keep your eye on this page, or sign up with us, as we are always launching new programmes.

Not all programmes are available in every borough, and some have an age requirement.

Foothold

Foothold offers young single parents the opportunity to attend a variety of 4 week courses to help explore specific issues such as confidence building, improving self-esteem, developing and maintaining positive relationships, communication and listening skills, goal setting, and employability etc.

Spotlight

This project covers the Vale of Glamorgan and is an 8 week programme of intensive support for single parents in receipt of any benefit, to help move them closer to employment. The project includes 1:1 support sessions to create a tailored action plan and workshops on interpersonal, money management, confidence, and assertiveness skills.

Creating connections

This is an 18 month self-management course consisting of 6 weekly workshops. These workshops are facilitated by trained single parents who provide guidance and practice in goal setting, action planning and problem solving. Parents who participate also have the opportunity to train as a facilitator or trainer.

Growing together

We help single parents find the time for themselves to develop practical skills to help turn their house into a home and focus on their future through a flexible mix of one to one and group workshops.

Co-creating healthy change

This programme is designed to help you influence decisions about health and well-being services in your community. Members of the community, including single parents, are encouraged to help create positive change to the delivery of these services. Participation in this forum will provide the opportunity to develop a range of skills, including confidence and assertiveness.

Community voice

A single parent forum meets on a monthly basis to have their say and influence services and decision makers. This project gives single parents the chance do develop a range of skills, including confidence and assertiveness.
