Training courses for single parents

If you’ve been out of work for a while, the idea of returning to employment might feel a bit daunting and it can be difficult to know where to start.

You might want some support to help you understand how best to put yourself forward as a potential candidate.

You could be worried about what might change for you practically as a single parent if you do decide to return to work, or perhaps you just want to work on getting your confidence and skills back up right now.

We offer placements on programmes that fit your needs

At Gingerbread, we understand that everybody is different and that, if you decide you want to prepare for getting back into work, it needs to be at your pace. We run a range of free training programmes and workshops to help single parents from all walks of life increase their options and develop their skills for work and for life.

Our courses are run by experienced trainers who understand the issues facing single parents and can give you tailored support and information to match your situation.

How do they work?

If you see a programme that you are interested in then get in touch. A member of our team will then contact you to work out what best suits your needs. We work with you to create a plan and walk you through the steps involved in that particular programme.

A dedicated person will be there to support you through the programme of choice, checking in with you along the way. If your programme involves work experience, then support continues after the placement ends, to help you achieve an outcome such as a job.

We work with you to make sure that you are placed on a course that suits you, and there is no obligation to participate.

Who can take part?

Most of our programmes are limited to a certain area or city, depending on funding. See our London, Wales or North West programmes to check whats available in your area.

Some of our programmes also are for a specific age group, and might require a referral from a government agency, this information should be on the page.

If you are unsure about what you want to participate in then that’s ok, get in touch through our online form  or call us on 0800 652 3166 and we can chat about it.
